CLASSROOM BUCKETS
Expert suggestion

Letter from Jay Lewis, President of Terra Firm Earthquake Preparedness Inc., Vancouver

“Sounds like a great way to get parents involved in emergency preparedness. My one suggestion would be for the parents to work with the existing emergency supply retailers and wholesalers (FAST, Braidner, Krasicki & Ward, etc.) rather than the building supply/hardware dealers. The emergency people have more expertise in the field, generally lower prices and are in need of support to remain viable in our region. They also stock an array of packaged home and auto kits that make good fund raisers.

Anything that gets parents involved in seismic safety at school and then transfers the safety practices to the home, is a good idea.”
